What You Need To Know

A closer look at the advanced tools we use to diagnose and treat foot and ankle conditions.

Advanced Foot and Ankle Care Options

Diagnostic ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique for soft tissue that is used to diagnose foot disorders. A special probe emits sound waves into your body tissues, which are returned to the probe and converted to an image. This image is used to diagnose and determine treatment for your foot condition.

Ultrasounds can create an image of all the ligaments in your foot and ankle, plus the Achilles tendon, the plantar fascia, the posterior tibial tendon, and the peroneal tendons. They prove extremely useful in helping with the diagnosis of foot conditions.

FX635 Laser is a Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), sometimes referred to as a cold laser, used to address a variety of conditions, including acute and chronic pain. LLLT alters cellular functions resulting in pain relief and has a photochemical effect that reduces oxidative stress and increases the production of ATP.

Subchondral stabilization is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat subchondral bones (found beneath the cartilage) during healing. The subchondral bone acts as a shock absorber in weight-bearing joints and can result in stress fractures if weakened. Your chronic foot pain may be a result of edema in the bone, and an MRI will identify edema that can be the cause of microfractures. If you are experiencing chronic foot or ankle pain, contact Foot Care Center to schedule a consultation and learn which option may be right for you.

What To Expect During Treatment

At Foot Care Center, we are dedicated to providing our patients with high-quality therapy options. We understand that many of our patients come through our doors experiencing discomfort and pain from physical ailments, and it is our duty to offer convenient solutions that yield real results.

Patients who undergo FX635 laser treatment can expect no pain, no drugs, no side effects, and no downtime. In our office, laser treatments are focused primarily on the foot and ankle. You will lie comfortably on your back on the examination table, we may provide support to elevate your foot, the laser is positioned near the problem area and targets the treatment site for about 10 minutes, and you may then continue your regular activities.

The number of laser treatments needed will vary from patient to patient. Please note that FX635 laser therapy is not recommended for patients with certain pre-existing conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, bone tumors, osteoporotic fractures, active chronic pain disease, recent cancer treatment, or pregnancy.

During subchondral stabilization, a bone substitute material is injected to stabilize bones compromised due to defects, lesions, or fractures. The material is replaced by new bone during the healing process. Patients seeking minimally invasive treatment options for chronic foot and ankle pain are encouraged to contact us for a consultation to review your imaging and discuss next steps.
